Mechanisms that must be used by countries (and organizations in these countries) bound by international treaties such as the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement. There is a market-based emission trading system, a project-based clean development mechanism and a joint execution mechanism.
