IPCC was established in 1988. Its primary objectives include assessing scientific, technical, and socioeconomic information and research related to climate change. The IPCC aims to provide guidance to decision-makers regarding climate change mitigation and adaptation based on scientific findings and prepares special reports for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on various climate change-related issues and policy matters. The IPCC is composed of member countries of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the UN Environment Programme, and Türkiye is also a member.
