United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

The UNFCCC, the first intergovernmental agreement focused on addressing global warming, was made available for signature at the Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Currently, 197 countries, including Türkiye, are parties to the UNFCCC, which officially came into force in 1994. The Convention recognizes that human-induced environmental pollution has dangerous effects on climate and aims to reduce the rate of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and minimize the negative effects of these gases and keep them at a certain level.
